Week 5 Update

Pohutakawa Whanau News Update Week 5 Junior Whanau Fun Run What an amazing event we had last Friday. We were spoilt with the weather which made the event much more enjoyable for all spectators and participants. As a staff, we were overwhelmed with the amazing parent support and this inspired many of the children to push themselves further. This coming Friday (7th June), we are going to celebrate our top runners by handing out the first, second and third place certificates in our full school PRIDE assembly. You are most welcome to come along. The assembly starts at 10am. Uniform Over the past couple of weeks there has been an increasing number of children coming to school wearing non uniform items. It is important that children come to school in the correct school uniform and that these are worn Monday to Friday. If you are in need of new uniform items, the school uniform room is open every Friday morning before school. Please ensure that all your items are named as this makes it easy for staff and children to retuned items to their correct owner. We have also had a couple of children with head lice in the team, so might like to take the time to check your child’s hair. We recommended that girls have their hair tied up when at school as this can reduce the chance of getting head lice. Parent Help We would love the assistance of a team of parents to label some new reading books for the junior whanau. If you are able to donate some of your time to help us with this, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Paulette Newton (Room 7) if you are able to help. We are open to any times that you can assist us! Art Exhibition Just a reminder that at the end of this term there will be a school art exhibition which will be held from Tuesday 9th July to Thursday 11th July. Our classes are currently hard at work creating some amazing items for this. Fonterra Milk in Schools Our school has accepted an invitation from Fonterra to be part of their new Milk for Schools Programme. This programme will deliver Year 1-6 kids a pack of Anchor Lite UHT milk every school day. This programme is all about growing healthy kids and milk contains essential nutrients for growth and development. If your child cannot have milk, please let the school office know before Monday. Many thanks Contact information Update If you received another parent contact information form from your class teacher, please ensure these come back to school ASAP. If there was an emergency, we need to ensure that all our contact data is correct. Many thanks to those who have already returned theirs. Team pride assembly We will be hosting the full school PRIDE assembly on Friday 28th June at 10:00am. You are most welcome to come along to see what we have been up to! Have a great week ahead!
