Week 7 Update

Hi to you all! Thank you so much for all your support on Tuesday as our teaching staff went to their union meeting. It was an important meeting for Christchurch teachers to discuss the changes which the government are looking to introduce (GERM). We (NZ teachers) are wanting retain smaller class sizes and the ability to provide individualised learning programmes to meet the diverse needs of our students in our classes and at our school. This meeting gave us the opportunity to voice our concerns over the government wanting to introduce a ‘one size fits all’ system. We have a very busy few weeks coming up, so the purpose of this blog is for you to store some key dates into your diaries! We do hope that you are finding this blog an easy way to stay in touch with our team and school events. Sausage Sizzle: Friday 22nd March Please buy a delicious BBQ sausage this Friday to support our Year 8s and their fundraising for their leadership camp to be held later this term. Order your sausage (or two) near the flag-pole area before school. School Photos - next week Kerry Ferigo will be at school on Tuesday next week to take class photos, and Thursday to take individual photos. We would appreciate if children could all wear full school uniform including a red school top on these days to get uniformity for the photos. South Library Visits Over the next few weeks our team will be visiting the South Library. During this time the children will be participating in a cyber-citizenship session in the computer lab and will also have a library induction with the children’s librarian. This will give the children who do not normally vista the library the opportunity to learn how to issue books along with where to find books in the library. If your child is not yet a member, you might like to take this opportunity to join the library. If you are already a member, your child is welcome to bring their library card and issue books on their visit. Please see your class teacher if you are able to be a parent help.
