Week 5 News

Well, it is hard to believe that we have already reached the 5 week mark! The term is truly flying by. Today the children were treated to an amazing performance by a troop of Chinese performers, who were in Christchurch for the Lantern Festival. The children were in awe of their acrobatics and musical talents. I will upload some footage so you can see the performers in action. Emergency Kits These should now have been returned to school. Each child needs a bottle of water, a small snack bar and a warm hat in a clearly named plastic bag. If you haven't yet done so, could you please ensure all kits are returned to your class teachers by Monday so we can collect them up. You assistance is greatly appreciated! South Learning Center We have been lucky enough to be able to go to the South Learning Center to use their computer suite later on this Term. The session will be on cyber safety and digital citizenship. It is a technology based lesson, planned to assist children in brainstorming what it takes to be a good class and/or school citizen and to learn safe and appropriate ways of being an online citizen. For this to go ahead, each class will need approximately 4 parents to come along. Your class teacher will be sending home a letter with details pertaining to their individual class. School Uniform We have noticed that there is large selection of unnamed clothing in the lost property. We would love it if you could check and make sure that each item of clothing is clearly named as this makes for an easy return to families. On that note we are still DESPERATELY SEEKING... LOST SHOES Anton Adamson in Room 7, lost his brand new black New Balance shoes at lunchtime while playing in the sandpit. We suspect that some one has accidently picked up Anton's shoes by mistake, thinking they were there own. Jude is desperate to get these shoes back as this is the 4th pair that has been lost at school. Luckily they are clearly named on the inside of the shoe. The shoes that were left for Anton, are also black New balance shoes and are a size 7. Miss Newton in Room 7 is currently looking after them. Could you please check that they have not arrived at your house unintentionally as Jude would be exceptionally grateful for their return! Jude can be contacted on ph: 337-3335 Many thanks Wet and Wild this has been a hit with the children and they have loved the opportunity to cool down on the hot days that we have been having at school. With the weather starting to cool down, we will look to finish wet and wild at the end of next week. Thank you for being so supportive of this component to our class programmes. Parent Help As a school, we are looking to colour code our books to make it easier for children to be organised at school. This is a huge task, and each class would love the support of a couple of parents to help put the tape onto learning books. If you are able to assist your class, please make contact and your class teacher and they will explain what to do. It is a very easy job, just time consuming. That's all for now. Keep an eye out for the Lantern Festival Performers! Pohutukawa Team Teachers
