In Hub 8/9 we read 'Oh, The Places You'll Go!' by Dr. Suess and we were inspired to write about what we would like to be or do when we grow up. We made sure we included lots of detail and lots of interesting words too. We have been working really hard on editing and making our writing the best that we can.
Here are a few examples...
Circus Extravaganza
Ta-da! When I grow up I'll be the best circus lady in the universe. It will be amazing. I'll use shiny, round, sparkly hula hoops adn I'll go round the entire world. I'll go to Europe, Australia, France, China, Japan, Tokyo, New York, South Korea, America, Canada, New Zealand, Scotland and England. All around the globe. Evie is going to be in the circus as well. She's a magician. I'll hang upside down in hula hoops, ginormous hula hoops. I'll make new friends. I'll have an amazing, sparkly, blue costume on. I think it will be an extravaganza!

Bowling Black Cap
If I was a black cap, I would be an all-rounder. I would smash sixes all over the place. I would bowl out after out after out. Everyone would want my autograph. I would be in the news and the newspaper and I would be rich. I'd travel to South Africa. I'd be a fast bowler. That is what I'd do when I'm older.

Super
Suits
I’m going to make suits and save the world and help all
people. The first suit I’m going to make is a Spiderman suit. I’m going to buy
a mansion and do right for the poor. And I will be a scientist and protect the
earth. No-one will stop the Ultron. He will have laser beams in his fingers and
have repulses and he will have a shield to protect him from viruses and for
mind control. He will be able to search every security file and communicate with
every electronic device. My butler will be called Jarvis and he will help me communicate
with devices. I will buy a tower. It will be called Stark Industries.

In Hub 8/9 we are also learning about using a growth mindset which means we are focussing on the learning journey and how we are going to travel along the road as we learn. We look at things positively and if we are finding things hard and make mistakes we just keep on trying because the more we train our brain, the more we will learn. It isn't always easy but with some persistence, we can get there.
1. Some hings we have found hard this week:
Doing a wordsearch and finding the words, concentrating on work, Mad Maths Minute, reading, thinking of what to write for the acrostic poem and the Easter maze.
2. Some things we have had to stick at to get there:
Making a card for mum and staying in the lines for colouring in, finishing publishing my writing, reading a book and finishing it which was hard to do.
3. Some mistakes we made which we learnt from:
In writing, I tried to correct my spelling and kept trying to sound it out, talking on the mat and realising it is not good to talk when someone else is talking.
4. Some strategies we used to help us learn:
Sticking at MMM all week and getting better and better, focussing on finishing my writing, looking up words in the dictionary to help me with words I wasn't sure of, using the 5 times table to help me learn the 7 times table.
