6 found out that cicadas can spend 17 years under the ground and feed on the sap of the trees. We looked for holes in the ground because this where the cicadas have come out. They come out of the ground at night and climb up trees. Then they hatch out and shed their shell. When they come out they have wings. There job is to find a partner and do so by making different noises to call to each other.
