Sizzling Starters

The writing group in Room 7 (a mix of children from Rooms 5, 6 and 7), have been learning how to write a 'Sizzling Start' to for a narrative. Here are three examples from today.

The boat was on fire from the bolt of lightening that had shot out from the sky. I was terrified! My ship was drifting towards the bottom of the sea. Blood thirsty sharks were chomping at my ship. I grabbed my fishing rod and quickly bashed it on the head. The shark shivved in fear and swam away. Michael

A flash of lightening, dark clouds and a stormy sky surrounded me. I was climbing up the volcano to power up my lightening sword. Out on the water the mysterious ship was getting closer. Callum

The pirates were getting closer. I quivered with fear. Boom! That shot nearly hit us! I felt cold water on my feet. In the water around my boat a shark was starting to chomp into the side. I decided to hit it with my oar. It went down, down, down and landed at the bottom of the sea. Harper

What type of sizzling starters can you write?
